Sugar Creek Bolero
Height - 31.00 inches (Perm.)   AMHA A 61963 / AMHR 227156A
Black Tobiano Splashed White Tovero Pinto Stallion, with Blue Eyes. Foaled 7/3/1994.
Sold to:
Jerry and Linda Marcum, Gail-Wins Ranch, Bieber, CA.

We purchased Bolero as a yearling in 1995 from his breeder, Linda Barthelein Marzec, at Sugar Creek Ranch in Auburn, California. He remained our primary herd sire until he was sold in mid 2004. From 1997 through 2005 when his last foals were born here, he sired thirty-eight live foals. Thirty-four of these were pintos. His jet black color, wide blaze, sparkling blue eyes, and conformation attracted us to him. His pedigree is terrific, pure Bond breeding on top, and Johnston's Gold Melody Boy on the bottom. Who could have asked for more as a herd sire! His value as a herd sire was unsurpassed as he could be safely bred to our frame mares, as well as our tobiano and solid mares. Two of his daughters, as well as a grandson and granddaughter, and great grand foals are still part of our breeding stock and production. Bolero was a heterozygous tobiano (from his jet black tobiano pinto sire Bond Commodore), who also likely carried the splashed white overo pinto gene (from his blue eyed, minimal white palomino dam Sugar Creek Golden Contessa). It was not until many years later in 2010 when we were able to test for the cream gene, that we realized Bolero had to have also been carrying the cream gene from his dam, which was passed onto some of his offspring. In 2012, when the Splashed White gene test was available we determined that several of Bolero's foals were positive for the Splashed White (SW-1) gene. The dams of these foals were negative for the splashed white gene.  Bolero's sire, Bond Commodore, was the sire of four AMHA National Top Ten foals in Halter, Driving, and Obstacle. His daughters, Pacific Liberty Belle, and Pacific Black Eyed Susan, as well as his grandson Pacific Mad Hatter, remain a major part of our breeding program. His son, Pacific Justin Time was also a herd sire here for many years and left his mark on our breeding program.

Bolero was tested and is negative for the Frame (LWO) gene. Several of Bolero's foals tested positive for the Splashed White (SW-1) gene and we believe he carries this gene.

His Pedigree includes: Bond Commodore, Sugar Creek Golden Contessa, Bond Jocko, Bond Fantasy, Johnstons Gold Boy, Johnstons Golden Dream, Bond Tiny Tim, Bond Honeydew, Bond Bulldog, Bond Amy, Gold Melody Boy, Starlight III, Johnstons All Star, Bond Peppermint Goldmine, Bond Shorty.

Sire: Bond Commodore
Dam: Sugar Creek Golden Contessa

Pacific Justin Time
Height - 31.00 inches  (Perm) AMHA # 115433.
Black Frame Overo Pinto Stallion, with Blue Eyes. Foaled 7/18/2000.

Justin resembles an exquisite thoroughbred horse in miniature. We had never seen anything so refined in a miniature horse until he was born. His dam is an unique and exceptional black frame sabino pinto mare, Van Los Angel in Calico, bred by Lois Myler which can be seen on our Brood Mare page. Angel is one horse that never lacks attention. People are forever wanting to buy her after seeing her on our website. Justin's sire is Sugar Creek Bolero, a beautiful jet black tobiano splashed white tovero pinto (see Bolero's information on this page), who was bred by Lynda Marzac. Bolero was our herd sire for ten years. Justin has the refinement, movement, and temperament we are breeding for. He has been tested at U.C. Davis and carries the Frame (LWO) pinto gene that is associated with the sought after frame overos. We believe he also carries a sabino gene, though he does not carry the SB1 gene. His unusual starfish-shaped belly markings are pictured below. In addition to the frame (LWO) gene, he has thrown pinto markings to his foals that we are unable to test for at this time. We believe he received the splashed white gene from his sire Bolero which he passed on to his son Pacific Mad Hatter. He appears bay in the photo taken at the beach in the early morning sunrise, however he is actually a dark black coloration, as can be seen in these additional photos. Justin has consistently downsized, and refined his foals. He has a tremendous pedigree combining two extremely well known classic miniature horse pedigrees. His sire, Bolero is from both the Bond and the Johnston's Gold Melody Boy line. Justin's dam is from the famous Myler Van Los line. We have retained a Justin daughter, Pacific Desire, as well as one of his son's, Pacific Mad Hatter, who are now producing foals for us. Justin remains a beloved stallion to us. If only we had endless room and more non-frame mares we would have never let you go. We look forward to seeing what you produce in your new home and keeping in touch with your new owner. You are always in our hearts Justin.

Justin was tested and is positive for the Frame (LWO) pinto gene. We believe he also carries the splashed white SW-1 gene which he passed on to his son Pacific Mad Hatter.

His Pedigree includes: Sugar Creek Bolero, Van Los Angel In Calico, Bond Commodore, Sugar Creek Golden Contessa, Van Los Paleface, Mylers Angel, Bond Jocko, Bond Fantasy, Johnstons Gold Boy, Johnstons Golden Dream, Van Los Tony, Winks Shodeo Time, Silverdales Dainty Denise, Bond Tiny Tim, Bond Honeydew, Bond Bulldog, Bond Amy, Gold Melody Boy, Starlight III, Johnstons All Star, Mylers Shorty, Van Los Vani, Winks Shodeo Time, Winks Shodeo Kid, Hillwickes Captain Romeo, Silverdales Diane.

Sire: Sugar Creek Bolero
Dam: Van Los Angel in Calico

Knollac Buckin Rhythms Top Cat
Height - 31.00 (Perm)  AMHA # 145765 / AMHR 238321 T
Mahogany Bay Sabino Overo Pinto Stallion, with Blue Eyes. Foaled 7/6/03.

Top Cat joined our herd as a yearling in September of 2004. He was bred by Bev Thawley of Knollac Farms, in Delaware.  We had been searching for a sabino pinto that did not also carry the frame gene. He was the first pure sabino overo pinto colt we had been able to find, making him a perfect match for our frame overo mares. His beautiful refined body, and exotic pinto pattern, are matched by an impressive pedigree which includes Boones Little Buckaroo, Gold Melody Boy, and Flying W Farms horses. Top Cat produced ten foals for us between 2006 and 2008. Eight of these foals were pintos, seven of them fillies. We have been pleased by the foal crops Top Cat has produced. His foals are refined, with a short muzzle, and he has thrown his beautiful sabino overo pinto pattern. He has also passed on the black eyeliner to his foals, which we love. Top Cat has consistently downsized his foals and has been a welcomed addition to our breeding line up. Sabinos add that touch of dazzle to a color breeding program. They are an ideal match for a frame overo program and also add pizzazz to a tobiano program. Top Cat is a half brother to another of our stallions, Magic Mans Color Prints, which both share the same dam TNTS Angel Baby, so to further diversify our gene pool we have sold him as his fillies will be unable to be bred to Color Prints.

He was tested at UC Davis and is Homozygous for Bay (he will always pass a bay gene to his offspring, and negative for the Frame (LWO) gene and Cream gene. He has also tested Negative for the Silver gene. Top Cat was tested at the University of Kentucky and found to be a heterozygous Sabino Pinto.

His Pedigree includes: Cascades Top Cats Rhythm N Blues, TNTS Angel Baby, Buckeroos Top Cat, Cascade Farms Blue Comets Cadence, Pratt Little Nugget, Jobi Yasmin, Boones Little Buckaroo, Boones Little Maude, Blue Golden Comet, Flying W Farms Little Rapunzel, Jobi Biet, Texas Bluebelle, Poplar Lanes Samson, Johnstons Vanilla, Flying W Farms Golden Comet, Flying W Farms Sahara Rose.

Sire: Cascades Top Cats Rhythm N Blues
Dam: T N TS Angel Baby

He also passed on his cream gene to Pacific Thriller, a frame sabino overo pinto colt.
